| Artist Statement: I work with airbrush, oil, pastel pigment, graphite, and enamel. My surfaces are sheet metal, gesso panel and paper. I became interested in painting through friendships with 4 west coast painters: Mike Arvan, Jeff Fischer, Wyatt Landis, and Mark Wavre. Other than that, I rarely leave my house. My business takes me to Central Asia about 4 times per year. So I do see some people in the outside world. I suppose Indian, Russian, and Central Asian cultures have affected my art, but I cannot pinpoint how. Perhaps it is a reflection of my awe and occasional disgust of the many personality cults and their remnants spread across the former Soviet Union. |
